The idea for this design is that the pencil is integral to the cap. Unscrew just the cap and expose a pencil. Unscrew a bit lower and remove the cap along with the pencil and expose the fountain pen. The patent makes this look more elegant, but in practice, the pencil portion is much larger. Still, one can remove the pen and post it by screwing into the still concealed pencil. Or, once the parts are assembled in a standard fashion, the cap can be placed over the nib as a friction fit cap. Extra lead storage is in the top of the cap. The clip reads “DUPLOPEN” and the barrel calls it “The Viseon”. The inscription is very cool as well!
